ALLY Screening & Discussion @Wing Luke
January 11, 2014The Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience is excited to screen A Lot Like You, an award-winning documentary by Seattle filmmaker Eliaichi Kimaro.
Kimaro was reluctant to put herself into her film about her father. However, as more truths were unearthed, the lens through which they were seen began to matter more and more. As a queer, mixed-race, woman of color with immigrant parents, Eli shares her story of how she came to ask about her family, what she learned, and what she was going to do about it.
A Lot Like You won Best Documentary at both CAAMFest and the Asian American International Film Festival in New York City in 2012.
A Q&A with Kimaro will follow with MAVIN‘s Alicia Woods.
Tickets are $10, museum Members $8. Tickets include gallery admission, including the current exhibition War Baby/Love Child: Mixed Race Asian American Art, on view through January 19.
